The World This Week

There are no words for the horrors so have two comics and a playlist instead.

In newsrooms of yore, we used to say — “XYZ thing has happened and the news cycle is crazy right now.” It was a way to explain why things felt so maddening and hectic and urgent, a way to apologise for neglecting other things that were simultaneously happening in the world, or the reason one spent all night bleary-eyed, poring over printed PDFs.

At some point, as we know, the news cycle went crazy and stayed that way.

This week it’s been difficult to process just how bad things are.
